I jumped up and down in the street a couple of times, did a little dance, then ran (literally) inside to bring Luke the envelope.
Much to my relief it was exactly what I thought...OUR SIGNED & NOTARIZED HOME STUDY!!! Woohoo!!
The packet also included instructions for our next steps. We need to have a meeting with the agency director since she is the liaison between the pregnant families and prospective adoptive families. She wants to be able to know us on a personal level before she can recommend placing a child with us in her conversations with the mothers.

Now we are full steam ahead on our photo book. (This is a printed photo album that the agency will use to show the mothers as they try to decide on placing their child for adoption or not.) We plan on having it completed for approval by Friday the 8th. We have made significant progress on it this past week so I have every confidence that we can make this self imposed deadline. (digging through all these old photos is pretty fun)

We are also now working pretty hard to fine tune and submit our grant applications. It is certainly humbling to ask for $15,000 but God has used this as another way to grow us in sanctification. We are learning how to ask for help raising money, help organizing this yard sale, help actually running the yard sale (emails have not yet been sent on this front), help for items to sell at the yard sale. As I said, humbling. I have been a bit overwhelmed by the magnitude of this yard sale that we've planned, but the Lord has brought along several brothers and sisters to use their various gifts and help bear this burden. I am probably sounding like a broken record lately, but God has been so incredibly gracious!!

I am getting more excited every day thinking about the child/children that the Lord has ordained for the Henderson family. I just can't wait to see who He has in store for us!
On April 23rd we will hold a yard sale at the Imago Dei Church building in Raleigh from 7:30 - 12 noon.

We are super excited and have already received TONS of donated things to sell. I will edit this post later for more details and pictures of our crowded guest/baby room. If anybody wants to be creative and make a flyer for us, I won't say "no"!!
The meeting, again, went very well and was around 2 hours. This time we split up and each met with Walt for about an hour to go over our autobiographies and provide further details into our histories. Much like writing the autobiography itself, I found it to be a ton of fun with the different old memories that were brought up by the questioning.
We have been given a little more homework of things to think through and organize before our next meeting. One of his main points of concern is where we are with the funding. I was a little disappointed at his reaction because I thought we have done really well. (over half way there) But the agency is not able to place a child if we don't have the full last payment at the time of placement. Since we have very few restrictions on the child that we would be willing to take, we will most likely have a shorter wait time (Lord willing!!). His concern has increased ours, so please forgive us if you see several updates on fundraising activities in the near future.
As soon as the home study is completed we can begin to apply for grants and things. We are trusting the Lord's timing, but also trying to be proactive about getting applications as filled out as possible for submission as soon as the approved home study documents are received.

We will have our last home study meeting with Walt in 2 weeks (again on a Friday afternoon).

As always, thank you for your prayers!! They are certainly felt.
Then we waited for a couple more weeks for him to call as we weren't given any contact info yet.
Luke go the call last Thursday night and we were able to schedule our first home study meeting (the one in our home) for Monday February 8th. Yes, that's right, we had the first meeting this evening!

It went well and was not stressful at all. He gave us a little bit of homework regarding some parts of our file that he needs additional detail on, but for the most part it was a really easy meeting.
Our second meeting will consist of individual interviews with Walt and the third will be all together again. We are required to wait at least a week between each of the meetings. The last two meetings will be in a more central location as he lives 45+ minutes from our home.
After these 3 meetings he will write up our final home study and we will meet with the agency's founder, Doris, within a month of that. Then we will be available online for mothers to see as a waiting family!
It seems so close and yet so far all at the same time!

This past weekend we had a spur of the moment date. We spent the time reflecting on our childhoods and what we want to provide in the lives of our children. It was pretty surreal to have that discussion knowing that we're almost to the point where we could meet our child literally any day. I am so grateful that I can look forward to that day with a longing that brings more than pain. Our God has been so faithful and gracious to change my heart and turn it back toward Him. I don't know that I could have enjoyed this time of waiting in this way just a couple of years ago.

Thank you all for your prayers, keep them coming!
We are praying that this is the year we add a little one to our family. But we are trusting in the Lord's timing even if it is not 2016.

We are so close to being a waiting family online for mothers to see our profile.
We have completed all our paperwork and only have our infant CPR training (this should be done by the end of January), our photo book, and the home study process. We have followed up with CAS (our agency) to try to get the home study & subsequent meetings scheduled.

We have raised/saved enough money for our next installment AND are actually over a third of the way to our goal!

I cannot believe how much has gotten done in the past 4 months! We are in shock nearly every day as we reflect on how smoothly the adoption process has gone for us so far. The Lord has blessed us with so much, and we can't wait to share it with our future child. We pray daily for that little one and his/her parents.

This past weekend we thought we might be pursuing a specific little boy in Texas, but his mother has decided to parent. Please join us in praying for their provision, her healing, and praising the Lord that she has chosen life for her son!

As always, we love you and are eternally grateful for your prayers.
I can hardly believe it, but we just checked, so it must be true!
Our agency is a Type-A person's dream. They have an online portal where we interact with our case worker when we have questions. There is a section where they have broken down our required documents, trainings, and other activities into several checklists as we upload documents or mail them to CAS we can check the item off the list and each checklist gets submitted to the case worker as it reaches completion. She reviews the documents that we've uploaded and marks the list as 'accepted' if she has all the information needed. Its a great help for organization, timing, and for reviewing when I feel like I haven't done anything towards the adoption in a while.
We received confirmation that our references have gotten their letters and are working on those for us. It kind of makes it a little more real to know that some work is being done by others toward the end of Baby Henderson!

Additionally, I had some wonderfully encouraging conversations with several friends this week. It was incredible to feel loved by each of them in such special ways.

I have decided that we will do a Spring yard-sale to help raise funds, so if you live nearby and have items that you'd like to donate start thinking about it and making a pile because spring will be here before we know it.

Lastly, one of our sweet talented friends has been busy working on some home décor items that she will be selling for our adoption at an undisclosed location on a Saturday in November from 9am - 3pm. Please stop by Ozilia's Originals (this is a working business name) and check out her handy work! This is all done free hand which blows my mind, see the example below:
So that's 4 of 11 lists now completed.
Saturday was a cool, rainy day (Luke's favorite kind) and most of our regular housework was done so I spent a few hours in our guest room cleaning out drawers in preparation for the transformation into our child's room.
A few months ago my parents visited and brought some boxes filled with some of my old stuff. It was a pretty surreal moment to be going through my old books and thinking that these might actually be read by my daughter one day. I'm not going to lie, I got a little teary eyed. Then today we were speaking to some friends and Luke remembered that he had some of his childhood dominos in a drawer. When he showed them to me we found the onsie that he was brought home from the hospital in. When Sandi first gave that to us I was a little heartbroken because I was convinced that we'd never have children. (yes I'm prone to be a bit dramatic at times)
I love that each little step toward adoption and each little moment of revelation that there is hope for a child at the end of this points me back to my Savior; His changes in my life and His love for me.

We have made it back safely from the UK and have hit the ground running in regards to the adoption world. Our latest efforts have been in the fundraising relm.
after much research we have decided to use YouCarring.com as our platform. Basically, this was the website that will end up passing the largest amount of the raised funds through to us.

If you are desiring to donate to bring our child home and have a PayPal account, please use your PayPal to make the donation as this will result in 100% of the donation coming through to us. If you use your credit card your donation will have to have 2.9% + $0.30 withheld for processing fees. The other sites that we researched withhold 5% or more.
I know some people might think that this is too much information to share, but I feel that you deserve to know the rationale behind the site we chose as well as why we're asking you to use PayPal if possible.
We want you to know that we appreciate your contribution toward our adoption whether it be prayer, emotional, financial, or anything else.

We have had a few fundraising ideas (home décor & jewelry) from friends around us so if you prefer to buy an item rather than just donating funds please hold on, an update will be coming for you soon!

We love you all, please keep praying for our little one and his/her mother.
"I wanted to give everyone a quick report on the recent adoption agency meeting Lynn and I attended (this past weekend) in Charlotte. For the most part, the meeting was fine; we were not very thrilled with the way the meeting was structured (not the most organized), but we still were able to learn a little, and what we did learn encouraged us. In addition, we still feel very confident with our choice to go with this particular agency (answered prayer) and happy that we have completed this initial step of the process. As of right now, we are just waiting on the agency to let us know if our application has been accepted (we should know in the next week or so). Thank you for your prayers and the incredible support you have shown Us!!

Lynn and Luke"

And on Monday afternoon:
"Thank you all for your prayers. We have been notified that we are approved to move forward with the process at CAS! Praise the Lord! We now get to move into the formal application process which consists of lots more paperwork, some trainings, meetings, and the home study.
For those who have asked, we should have a better idea of fundraisers (and the giving platform) very soon.

We love you all. Please joining us in praising our gracious Lord for the quick response!
So along with my job change to Nexus Global last October came an actual home life. I no longer have to drive over an hour each way and I don't have any mandatory overtime, so early in 2015 Luke and I began to talk about the possibility of moving forward with the adoption process.
We have been praying about it for a couple of years, and this past spring we began to research agencies and attend their informational meetings.
The Lord also lead us to change churches (for many reasons that I'm not going to get into here) with this change came a new small group. One of the couples in the small group connected us with their friends who had just completed an adoption in North Carolina within the last 6 months. We met with them and they were so helpful with many aspects of the VERY daunting process that is adoption.

We have decided after much prayer and research that (for this child) we are going to pursue domestic adoption. We don't have any gender or race preference. We are not limiting ourselves to open or closed adoption, but are hoping that the birth mother/family chooses an open or semi-open adoption. We'd love the opportunity to use this difficult situation to be a ministry to her/them.

We have completed our preliminary application (roughly 15 documents) with an agency called Christian Adoption Services. Their main office is about 3 hours from us outside of Charlotte. Thursday 9/10 we will be attending their informational meeting at 7pm. We should be hearing back from them in roughly a week as to whether or not we have been accepted to proceed in their program. If we are approved, we will need to submit the formal application and the first and smallest of many fees.

There are many things that we don't know at this point about the process in general as well as what is provided by selecting this agency. Unless something crazy comes up in the meeting tomorrow we will be trying to proceed with CAS. We are super excited to get this show on the road as we hear the average time frame for placement is 15 months after the home study is complete (roughly 18 months from today)!

Our growth group had a prayer time last night for us and for this process that we are beginning. We have never had anyone do something like that before. We are just unbelievably humbled that so many people (both those that could make it AND those that could not physically join us) care enough to take the time to join us in praying. I was just amazed by the love of the body of Christ that has surrounded us both from our new IDC family, from our RCCC family, from our various friends & family back in Texas, and from our biological family members. We are so undeserving, but desire to be vessels of our God's perfect grace and love. We hope to one day have a child to teach the truth of how the God of the universe reached down and adopted us into His family.
During the prayer time we were asked to provide 5 specific requests that could be lifted up for us, so I've provided them here in case you'd like to join us in prayer.

Prayer Requests:
1. That each of would have a peace concerning the particular agency we are using. And that our application would be accepted.
2. Knowledge (good understanding) about the actual agency, the overall process, and the immediate tasks we need to fulfill and about practical (realistic) ways to raise money quickly.
3. That we might be approved for grants.
4. That our emotional state would remain focused on the Lord and His will/ timing rather than our efforts and desires. And that we will not be discouraged by lengths of time and the piles of paperwork.
5. Health of our baby and his/her birth parents. We're praying that this experience would be a ministry to the birth parents that they might see God's love and provisions for His children through this picture of adoption. (Regardless of the level of contact they chose to maintain)

You have no idea how much your prayers, love, and support mean to us. We have been overwhelmed by you all.
Our God is great, and greatly to be praised! I look back at the few postings I had in 2012 and remember the bitterness that I allowed myself to stay in so frequently. He has done a great work to soften my heart! I don't know that I will ever be able to fully explain the depth of the change. That is more than enough.

My doctor had blood taken to run several tests. They all came back clear.
Praise the Lord! He did a big work in my heart the week that they took the blood. I was at a place where I was wanting the doctors (mine or Luke's) to find something wrong so that we could get it fixed and be done with this season. (It's kinda scary to think about this now.) Through a series of fantastic conversations with Luke and some of the women that God has surrounded me with, He showed me that I'm still not letting go & trusting Him. I ended up finishing that week with a statement to Luke: "I'm ready to not have an answer, to really let go and struggle well. I don't want to take any of the fertility medications they mentioned, b/c I know I'd be doing it just to feel in control."
I feel like we took the medically responsible route, and that's the only part that I need to do.

So, in case you haven't guessed yet, all of the tests came back at normal levels. And now I can really say "Praise the Lord" and mean it! Thank you my gracious God!!
Thank you all for your prayers! We are truly blessed by you!Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-29512159482922206562012-06-07T21:47:00.002-04:002012-06-07T21:47:17.739-04:00Struggles & God's Sweet Sweet GraceOkay folks... so we just had our third year anniversary, and we're trying to start a new phase in the Henderson home.
As most of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for about two years now. "Why haven't you gotten tested yet?" you may ask...Well, that is a very loaded question. I have personally been struggling with where the line is between trust/faith in God to provide and the wisdom/knowledge that He has blessed our doctors with. (Now before you go any farther, I think you should know that this is an ongoing struggle.)
What I can tell you is that our God has placed some fantastic women around me to pray, encourage, and feel for me without adding the common (but not very helpful) comments about how "it'll happen", "you're still young", & "you'll be next". : \
I'm not really sure why I'm writing this, other than to reflect on a few of the things our God has revealed to me recently.
1. Romans 8 - ...there is no condemnation...
The irrational guilt that I feel each month is a spiritual battle that I will need to fight. I just realized this weekend that the guilt wasn't just a reaction that on a physical level I'm not providing my husband with what we both want so much. Beyond that, I have been feeling as if this is a punishment for not staying in the word, and for the apathy that I've had in my relationship w/ Christ.
But today I was blessed with an amazing conversation w/ Luke about the freedom that we're provided through Christ & reminded of in Romans 8. Even if in His grace He is using the lack of children to pull me closer to Him, that's NOT punishment it IS love!! Praise God for this!!

2. We're moving forward with testing just to have some answers. However, I do still struggle with the line between faith & medical assistance. (Only med. help in this case, not for all medical issues) No surprise that it's a control issue. I Like to be in control! Because of this each step that we take as a family will continue to be slow, with lots of prayer and inspection of our (my) intentions.

3. Jealousy is another gigantic stumbling block for me right now. I love kids, and am so thankful that we get to spend time w/ families around us. Unfortunately, this doesn't lessen the small shoot of pain that I feel when I hear another announcement of pregnancy or see a fb update page of nothing but new baby pics on 95% of the feed.

Basically, as we wait for test results we are praying for increased faith, trust, patience, healing, loose fisted-ness, & desire for more of HIM!
We're praising & thanking for our support & the love that He's showing us through the community He has surrounded us with and for the conversations He has given us as a couple. We grow so much closer and stronger in our marriage through these times. And looking forward to great visits with family this summer and fall.
That means that probably nobody will read this. Oh well. If I had done a Christmas card for 2011 it would probably read something like this:

2011 has been a generally pleasant year. We have kept busy between work, school, and friends. We volunteer together on Sunday mornings in the 1 year old class, and enjoy our small goup/Sunday School time. We also tried out our green thumbs with a raised veggie/fruit garden. The strawberries and bell peppers were the best!

Lynn was promoted to Work Director of her team in Wells Fargo's Home Preservation Settlement team, and is thriving on the responsibility. It is a very transitory department, so her bosses rely heavily on her knowledge. This fall she joined the church choir. She loves the fellowship that worshiping together has fostered in this group! She even got to sing a solo/duet in the Christmas Night of Worship program. (See our very crude video/audio below)
Her beloved grandfather (Pop-Pop) passed away in September, but our Gracious God provided some sweet/healing family time as we all converged on Cape Coral, Florida for the services. It is still difficult at times. Thankfully we have the confort of knowing that he is with the Lord, as well as the peace that He provides as The great Comforter.
We're looking forward to the arrival of her first (on her side of the family) nephew, Rivers, in January!

Luke's classes have gone very well, he's loving all the philosopy classes. It's loking like his graduation will happen in December 2012. He is still planing to pursue his Doctorate in Philosophy (with the end goal of teaching along the lines of philosphy/logic/metaphysics). We had a great time at Frontier Camp in East Texas this summer as he spoke to Teen Week A about the book of James. We love getting to connect with the campers, staff, and (our favorite) the other Hendersons! We were able to meet his newest niece Sarah in her first few weeks of life! (She followed in the other niece's footsteps and fell instantly in love with her Uncle Luke...that man has a gift!)
He continues to earn the title of "Best Husband Ever" as he juggles the delicate balance of school/work/ministry/husband & home. He spoils Lynn nonstop by surprising her with a clean home & cooked supper on her return from work a few nights each week!

We are praising the Lord for his presence, love, protection, and blessings in 2011!

Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-56510745765265169552010-11-27T21:01:00.002-05:002010-11-27T21:01:53.811-05:00ThanksgivingI think this one may be short and sweet. (compared to the others)
My Aunt Karen rents a beach house in the Outer Banks each year for Thanksgiving week for her family to vacation at. This year they invited Luke and me to join them, since we’re so far away from any other family.
I had to work today (Friday) so we went out Wednesday night and came home Thursday night.
We had such a nice day! They did a few things differently than I’m used to, (watching football) but overall it was nice to have a semi-normal Thanksgiving and just enjoy family. Also, “Cousin Luke” (even though he was sickly) was a HUGE hit with Pam’s boys!! It’s so cute to watch him play with children. J
Their big tradition is to go around the table and say what they’re thankful for in the past year. Pam brought up the best point, and one that I think of often. “I’m thankful for family, but to put a spin on it…I’m thankful that we enjoy our family.”
I feel like it’s so rare these days to find a family where everyone enjoys one another, and spending time together. I feel that I have been very blessed that my immediate family is that way, even after getting married and bringing such new dynamics in. And to go beyond that, I love my in-laws and don’t ever feel judged by them (which is huge). And again taking another step back, for us to be able to join extended family and just fold in so easily was amazing.
Basically, our God is Great, Gracious, and Greatly to be Praised! Thank you for all the many undeserved blessings that you heap upon us, your children!!! We bought a new bedroom furniture, and played with moving the rest of our furniture around to make it all fit. I found that it's very rewarding to save up for such a big ticket item, and actually spend the money on it.

This week was spent helping our friend Drew plan a surprise prom-themed 30th birthday party for his wife Krista. We had such a blast on the "party planning committee". Luke said I was the Angela of the group, but I think I was Phyllis. I totally could have scored an anti-gravity machine if it fit the theme!

We got to use the garage of an empty house (it's on the market) to create the prom-gym effect. I think it was a HUGE success.

Here are a few shots, but there will be tons more (including videos) on facebook.

I think this time I will work backwards in time.

Our Sunday School class is going to use Luke’s truck for the church’s trunk or treat on Halloween. We are trying to think of decorating themes, but haven’t gotten any great ideas yet. So if you have a thought…we’ll welcome suggestions.

Friday, October 22 Mom and Dad will be visiting us for the weekend!!! (So please pray for their safe travels as they drive Thursday and Friday) I can’t wait. Mom has seen our home, but Daddy hasn’t, so it will be a nice time showing off my new home to him!

Sunday, I am hosting a tea party! There’s no fancy reason. I just wanted to get a chance to know my 2 most immediate neighbors a little better, and they both have daughters, so it sounded like a super fun excuse for a girls-only get together.

Today the NC State Fair began. Since we probably won’t attend till next week it doesn’t seem like that would be a very big deal. Oh, but wait!! I work less than 1 block from the state fair grounds…that stinks because my commute is already around 1 hour due to the fact that I have to stay on a 2 lane highway w/ traffic lights most of the way to/from Raleigh. I don’t state this fact to complain (my Ft. Worth commute wasn’t much better) it’s only to enlighten you all to my plight that will persist through 10/24.

Last Monday the school had an anniversary party with free bbq (the vinegar/pork kind). We walked up and had a good time picnicking with some of our newer friends.

I am doing a Beth Moore bible study on Tuesday nights with this friend too. Let me tell you about these ppl. It’s kinda scary how alike we are, both a couple, and individuals. (it might not come across well without meeting them, but here’s my attempt.)
Michele: favorite color = yellow, wedding colors were black/white/yellow, small in stature, and width, loves the Bachelor/wipeout/other shows that I like, sucks at softball, 23 years old (it’s hard to find that age in our life station here.) from Sarasota Florida (obviously, I’m not…but that’s near my grandparents, so I count it)

Nathan: athletic, into apologetics and philosophy, loves chips&salsa/stupid-funny movies/basketball, married a younger girl. I don’t know him all that well, but Luke does.

They were married about a month after us, so we’re in a very similar life situation. They love life, one another, and Jesus. The Lord has blessed us with their friendship, and is using our differences to challenge my faith, and really soften my heart to Him lately. He seems to be using a lot of people that way for me…He is so good!

There’s really not a whole lot that happened past that stuff…
We went to a few birthday parties,
Met/spent time with some new neighbors,
Had an amazingly funny wrestling fiasco,
Went to the dr. (inflamed cartilage on my floating ribs),
We both started serving with the 1.5-2 yr olds at church,
Got our own Netflix account,
Lots of cleaning, working, playing, walking, praying, reading, planning, & enjoying the many blessings that our Lord has given to us in this life.

We love you all, and miss you so much! (can’t wait to get to see most of you in the next few months!!!)Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-8537943637423031862010-07-18T16:11:00.000-04:002010-07-18T16:11:23.645-04:00July 3rd and 4th

The Lord has blessed us tremendously! We are surrounded by so many Godly friends there is no possible way it was an accident. Each time we get to spend more time with them I am amazed at the goodness and love of our God.
We have been able to help out some of our friends a few times over the last few weeks by taking them dinner and giving them extra "hands" for the night. They have been such an encouragement to us with their sweet spirits and intense love for the Lord. Basicly their situation is this: they have a 2 or 3 yr old and a 5 yr old. Within a few weeks of their 3rd child's birth they took on 2 other children (a tough set of their family events) So now they're a family of 7. 5 kids, 4 in diapers...yet they are the ones encouraging us when we spend time together. I know this is not very discriptive, but to be safe, legaly, I kinda have to be. The point is, we have come to love them dearly in our short time here, and they have been huge blessings by allowing us to help them out.
Also, Luke is super cute when he's playing with the girls and holding the boys!Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-87625254013053111582010-04-01T20:54:00.000-04:002010-04-01T20:54:54.229-04:00wowey wowDenise's birthday was last week.
Luke's favorite veggie (of the 4 that he eats) has now changed from broccoli to Denise's asparagus!!!
(Thought you would like this D.)Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-54770292375650047222010-03-23T21:55:00.000-04:002010-03-23T21:55:42.086-04:00reflectionsI typed this up at work last Thursday...sorry it took so long to get it up here.

I have discovered through a bad day at work that I am a control freak. I am the person in the office who accidentally causes conflict. While venting to Luke (and the bunch's) at supper last night I was lovingly guided to the realization that I think I'm better than everyone else. Ouch….not fun to realize that. When I think something should be common sense I feel the need to let everyone else know, even when it doesn't matter one way or the other.

In this instance my newly trained team was being told (by a non-authority) not to work till our report updated (9:30-10am) even though we have a list from the previous day to work from for that 1.5 - 2 hour time period. So I felt the "need" to clarify (through our trainer) that we didn't have to waste that time. Why? The volume of my work didn't change if they worked or sat. (P.S. I love that it's broken down that way) I have jokingly passed my sin off as "OCD" or as other ppl's fault for years. Thank you Lord for my Godly sweet husband and friends, that you lead me to repentance through them. Please keep this fresh in my mind, so I can trust you and not rely on myself.
On another note:
Two of my dearest friends had birthdays this past week (the 14th and 15th), and I was too far away to have birthday dinner with them. :( this is the first time since 2006 that I missed rebekah's, and though anna has been away for awhile, I still missed her tons due to the reminder. Homesickness isn't fun. I don't feel out of place here anymore, but it's still not home.Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6529380508094618849.post-71123281620874978992010-02-27T11:35:00.000-05:002010-02-27T11:35:26.375-05:00Spiritual WarfareI have been listening to a bunch of podcasts at work this week. Most of these have been Mark Driscol in Seattle. I decided to include his series on spiritual warfare this time. As many of you may know I am the world's biggest scaredy cat, so making this decision was kind of a big deal. For my whole life, just hearing stories of people's encounters with evil spirits has terrified me (with the aid of my imagination) especially when alone, or in the dark. So the morning after listening to the 1st of 4 teachings, I couldn't even get through getting ready for work without going back to our bedroom for the comfort of Luke. However, I continued the series at work that morning...I was super jumpy, but I realized a few things. Our God is Great and Powerful!! Though I have always known this, and prayed it when frightened, this series really made it sink in. Understanding more about the devil and his demons helped me to understand the Goodness, Grace, Mercy, Power, Love, and so many more attributes of our Fantastic God. I learned a lot, there are frightening stories, but there are also so many great teachings in this series. It helps lead to repentance, as most good bible teaching does. I suggest it greatly (as long as you're not living alone) ;)Luke&Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15728869535784046545noreply@blogger.com3
